I began pondering this concept years ago. There was a time that I wanted nothing to do with GOD. Coping with trauma and self-loathing, I could not comprehend a GOD that cared so much about me.
I did my best to ignore Him. In high school prayers, I stopped praying for myself, because I felt GOD to be indifferent to my needs. As time went on and I felt increasingly alone and abandoned, I considered atheism and abandoning my faith completely.
One problem multiplied by the whole world. . .
Everywhere I looked made me think of my creator. I thought of the trees and their complexity, birds not going hungry, the beauty of flowers, the birth of a baby, the way rain reflects light and creates a rainbow.
Then, I pondered my life. I did not see myself as anyone special. I believed myself broken, flawed, unimportant. . . Then, I thought about my eyes.
Have you ever considered the complexity of the eye?
Rods and cones help us to see different lights and colors. We have depth perception and then, on top of that, we can describe what we see.
Is that not phenomenal? Is that not proof of a creator, of GOD?
I have said to some that my recovery started small. A verse here and there. Then, my belief exploded.
I believed for a long time that my recovery from anorexia was me. However, recently, I have begun to think that maybe GOD carried me at that time. He gave me strength to eat and a will to live.
I read a bit of the book of Joshua today and when I got to chapter 24, I had to smile. The first 13 verses in that chapter describe what GOD did for the Israelites.
The words also describe what GOD does for us. I shall just use the subject and verbs, but you will be amazed!
GOD took and led
GOD gave
GOD sent
GOD afflicted their/our enemies
GOD brought
GOD handed
GOD destroyed their enemies
GOD refused to hear their enemies
GOD rescued
GOD gave
GOD is present and active. ALWAYS!
GOD takes us by the hand and leads. He gives us what we need. He sends us where we need to go. He afflicts those who would stand in our way. He brings us out of danger. He hands us what we need and what He desires for us. GOD destroys what would destroy us. He refuses to hear the cries that do not help us. GOD rescues us and gives us what we need.
So, I discovered that no matter where I go, GOD will be there. He loves me and calls me to Him.
The truth is that He loves you too. He wants to be an active part of your life. He may even be carrying you right now. He does not give up on you. NEVER!
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are amazed by You. We love YOU!
GOD, we worship and long to be closer to You!
We ask that You come into our lives, and
lead us into Your will.
We need You.
In the Holy Name of our Messiah and Savior, we ask these things.
Amen
Shalom
